Landguard Survey

Back at the end of February the survey below was introduced. If you haven't filled it in please do so as this is your last chance as it closes on 31st May & the results will be analysed by the powers that be.

The Landguard Partnership is planning to apply for funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund this year. We need your views to shape how the project is developed in a way that meets the needs of the people who work, volunteer and visit, and the natural environment, wildlife and heritage found here. If you know Landguard and want to contribute to its future please follow the link below and complete the survey.
Thank you. Please pass on to anyone else you think may want to give their views on Landguard.

No sign of yesterdays "goodies" with migrants very hard to come by. On the move heading south 27 Swift, 20 Swallow, 2 Jackdaw & Sand Martin with half a dozen Brents knocking around offshore apparently undecided as to what they were going to end up doing. Deadly quiet in the bushes although 2 Wheatear are still on the reserve. Although little migration going on there are plenty of baby birds on the reserve with the Lesser Whitethroats opposite the observatory bringing there young out this morning always pleasing to see.

15 birds ringed: 5 Dunnock, 4 Ringed Plover, 2 Linnet, 2 Blackbird, 1 Chaffinch, 1 Greenfinch.

Tuesday 27th May 2014

A light north-westerly with rain until 0700 again from 1300. Just as the rain was lifting a Greenish Warbler was heard in the Holm Oaks just in front of the Obs where it remained all morning. Not long after a Common Rosefinch was found along Icky Ridge and showed well between here and the Butts Pond. Apart from these two birds the was very little about.

7 Birds Ringed; 3 Dunnock, 2 Whitethroat, 1 House Sparrow & 1 Starling

Monday 26th May 2014

A nice calm overcast start to the day, before the breeze picked up from the north-west. The bird of the day was a Grey-headed Wagtail on the reserve, unfortunately it was flushed by a dog and headed north and could not be relocated. Otherwise the only migrants seen were 28 Swallow and a Yellow Wagtail south and 6 Swift and a House Martin north.

9 Birds ringed; 3 Dunnock, 2 Blackbird, 1 Linnet, 1 Robin, 1 House Sparrow, 1 Greenfinch. We also caught a control Robin.
